EYFS and KS1

EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) covers children from birth to 5 years old. It provides the standards for learning and development for children in nurseries, preschools and reception.

Our tutoring sessions for children in EYFS would be divided into short sharp sections, which would be a combination of structured activities and play based learning.

KS1 (Key Stage One) is when children are in Year 1 or Year 2, and are usually aged between 5 and 7. This is when they often begin following the National Curriculum. At the end of KS1 (Year 2) they often sit SATS in English and Maths. If children are applying for 7+ entry to an independent school they would take this assessment in the January of Year 2.

The sessions for KS1 children would often be broken up into manageable sections. They would mainly be structured activities but could incorporate some play based learning.

The subjects we cover are:

  • Handwriting
  • SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
  • Reading
  • Comprehension
  • Writing
  • Maths
